  • Entertaining. When I googled my own name (not just my 1st name but the entire 3 words in my full name) I was aghast to find so many others with exactly the same full name. I always thought I had a unique name and so I was unique. With time I realized what’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet – William Shakespeare. Ha.. Truely it is one’s work that differentiates us from others. I have been planning to make a club of people with my same name.

  • Intersting.. Here is one more person with the same 1st name. Johannes Bronkhorst, Netherlands, age 74, Inodlogist. He came to India to study Sanskrit. He published numerous papers on the history of Indian thought, indigenous grammar, linguistics, Brahmanism, Buddhism and Jainism. He is emeritus professor of Sanskrit and Indian studies at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

  • My interest in things ancient, past, archaeology, etc. stems from a proverb I heard as a child – Old is Gold (not gold in literal word but knowledge, understanding). It is common knowledge that the most common name (along with variations) on earth is Muhammad/ Mohamad/ Mohamad/ Mehmood. The names are derived from Prophet Muhammad, which in turn is derived from the Arabic name HAMMADA meaning praise or praiseworthy. But my knowledge/ research says that may not be true. The most common (Christian equivalent) name on earth (in its bewildering variations) began its journey from the name – YOHANAN, which means God is Gracious (Yo in Hebrew means God, Hanan means gracious). Because of time & space, an array of variations exist all over the world. 1st Names (males) – Chuan, Dzon, Evan, Ewan, Eoin, Ganix, Giovanni, Gianni, Gian, Ghjuvanni, Giannis, Gjin, Gjoni, Han, Hans, Hannes, Hank, Honza, Ianto, Ian, Iain, Iban, Iefan, Ieuan, Ioannes, Iohannes, Ifan, Ioannis, Ivan, Jack, Jan, Janez, Juo, Joane, Joan, Joao, Jean, Jeannot, JOHANNES (Germanic language), Johan, Jehan, John (UK), Jowan, Jovan, Juan, Jonas, Juhan, Juho, Janno, Jukk, Jaanus, Nino, Rashaun, Sion, Sean, Shawn, Shaun, Shane, Xoan, Yann, Yoan, Yannig, Yanick, Yannis, Yanni, Yianni, Vanni, Xhon, Xhoni & 1st name (females) – Ivana, Ivanka, Joan, Jane, Janet, Janis, Janice, Jean, Sine, Siobhan, Seona. Siun, Sinead, Shawna, Shavonne, Johanna, Johanne. Family names – Johnson, Jackson. Our life is a facinating journey, so is everything around us. Thank you for inspiring me to travel in the past. I keep coming to the blog as it contains treasure of knowledge. Best wishes.
